Black and White
One of the greatest photos of hitting the deck ever captured in the history of life. Man, that looks fun.

"Cross is so fun!" "Beer me!!" "Belgian stuff. blah blah blah...belgium blah blah blah" "Frites!!!" They are fucking french fries people.
Dear Cyclocross. Every year you come and go...and every year YGD gets sad. It's hard to tell when people got dropped since 'there are so many races within races happening.' Until now. NOW there is a new bike racer/photographer on the block with a keen sense of drop. He captures the essence of cyclocross, which is crashing and lack of bike handling skills.
The fact of the matter is that cyclocross sucks the life out of you. You get muddy and your endorphins are pumped full of adrenaline tricking your mind that you had a good time, which you didn't...but you say you did because that's what your friends say.
There is proof that cross isn't fun here. (I'll be stealing photos from this flickr site all week in case you don't feel like clicking).
Check out the brand of this dude's bike. "Ironic...table of two, your frites are ready."
Also, why the frick is there a giant pit of eternal damnation on this cross course?
Lastly, I have a locker room full of t shirts I need to move. Free to anyone who pays $15.00.
Doing the Absolute Minimum....
...to keep this website alive. Similar to doing the absolute minimum of maintaining your fitness. Oh wells. You Got Dropped representing in San Diego at the Velodrome. I hope they know how good they have it out there.
Joey IS Ok!!! - Details at CX Magazine
We were all worried about Joey! A couple days after the CX Crash Sensation and news that Joey is ok has surfaced. You crazy cyclocrossers jumping off bikes and hopping over things.

Take note MABRA. Next time you get dropped, give a brother a hand. Kudos to you. Wait..have we seen this before from the same rider? I'll hit you up on Google+. You seem like a guy who I'd want as my friend

The main culprit here really is Brian Sjoberg, aka Sobe. Rist, after Coppi, can probably start thinking of punching in his upgrade card and Hall has just recently found new successes in road races, although has been consistent this summer.
However, Sobe has been winning almost every race he enters for a solid month. This guy has crossfitted his way to every podium in the mid-atlantic.
Even his kids think he needs to email Tracey Rankin. (used with permission)
Congrats to these dudes. Great MABRAians who earned the successes with lots of hard work.
DROPPAGEPALOOZA WEEKEND!!
Big weekend for potential droppage in MABRA.
Saturday is Giro di Coppi RR, a prelude to the hillier road races of Page Valley and Lost River. Looks like registration is fair in the lower categories but the real men of the area have yet to sign up. Will Brian "Sandbagger" Sjoberg dust up the 3s or will Paul "i've won this race before" Rades mop up? Of course, there are about 50 other guys that want to be the first to cross the line in front of the church. That race looks fierce.
Sunday, Mr. Nieters has organized another summer version of the Battle of Bull Run. Facebook details here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=139156249497902. Dombrowski is scheduled to attend and Jim Faber might come out and take photos via moto. That's two steps closer to being pro than you are now.
To celebrate the big weekend, I've ordered a big batch of tee shirts and shipping will remain free. $15.00 shipped. We'll do our best to get them out the door by tonight so you can have for the weekend...at least have for Lost River and Page.
No shame in the droppage this weekend. The only shame will be not attending and getting it done.

Official Droppage
Many of you may have seen this gallery. As the photographer Link Brookes explained to the MABRA list, the finish was a clusterfuck of having the 1/2/3 race, the 3/4 race and Masters' race all finish at the same time. Plus, a bunch of dumbfounded drivers and moto refs thrown into a narrow road for good measure

A Tribute to Our Photographers, Cycling Fans, and General Drunkenness at Philly
Here's the dealio. Most of the stuff on YGD isn't actually taken by any of our photographers. Sometimes it is but most often than not, it's sent in by our 'fans'. Most of the other other times, we rip it off from what people put on the internet for free for everybody to look at.
Two AWESOME spots for cycling photos in general are http://www.cyclingcaptured.com/ (Anthony Skorochod) and http://www.joemallis.com/ (Joe Mallis)
Since being super meta is all the rage these days, the pic of the day is one of Joe taken by Anthony wearing our YGD socks. He has a great album on Facebook called "The People that make the Philly Race FUN!". We recommend that you click on that Facebook link and friend Anthony right now.
No jackassery today. Just giving two of Mid-Atlantic's best cycling photogs a shout-out. Without them, there would be no YGD, which many would probably prefer.

It's Teeee Shirt Time!!
Remember those days when you were angry that Tradezone was cancelled? The world had wronged you of February glory. You wanted to get your race on! Now, you might be a little worn out. You've been training since November. Maybe you did cross. Then you started racing in March or April. It only makes sense that you are tired. Reward yourself. You deserve it.
Whether you are heading out to the Jersey Shore this summer and need a rockin tee shirt for a big night out with Pauly D or want to pimp out at MABRA's stage race of stage races, we have you covered.
As a mid season motivator, we've dropped the shipping on our swanky t-shirt line. $15 bucks shipped. Daddy needs new tubulars.
Caption Contest - Leonardtown Style. Uncle Pappy Spotting!!
A little upset..(jealous) that Uncle Pappy got the best Rugg photo the internets has posted in a long while so we had to make sure that our caption contest included him in the subject. Also, for the record..the Haymarket kits look good. Very good. More jealousy setting in.
We'll start
Teamwork - The Key to Success
or
How many District Velocities Does it Take..?
Turning on Anonymous postings for this. Enjoy.
Jose Nunez...get your ass upgraded
Just the stuff we found on USA Cycling should give him the points...and there is probably more..and we think he's put his request in about 70 times. What up?
Leonardtown Crit 3/4 3rd
Bunny Hop Masters 3/4 1st
Carl Dolan 3/4 1st
Richmond Crit 3/4 1st
Black Hills CR 3/4 4th
Leonardtown Crit (last year) 4th
Switching gears (see what I did there?) what is the verdict on the Haymarket not XO Harley kits so far? Are any traffic cones in threat of being replaced? Are we one step away from an orange jumpsuit? Do we carve out eyes, nose, and mouth or am I totally off and are they totally pro and fast? Jose look good tho.
New Cover Model?
Dan Netzer, of Celerity Cycling in the VA, won something of Gran Fondoness proportions this weekend in New York. Finishing medal? Destruction of others? We don't know. What we do know is he is representing YGD they way we should be represented. Word.
Now..stay tuned for droppage. It's out there.

Dropped at the Hop?
By their very nature, no race is ever "easy". However if one were to imagine an "easy" course, it would probably be flat, low wind, and easy corners. Essentially, you imagine the Bunny Hop.
Droppage in this race is usually rare, but...

It would appear that some talent is still too "raw"

nothing says surrender like relaxed hands on the tops.

He has a sad.
